In the search for innovative ways to preserve heritage, the spiritual and psychological dimensions that give heritage depth emerge beyond being a preserved legacy or sustainable practice. Here, we find the concept of “spiritual renewal of heritage” as a framework that preserves the cultural spirit of society and enhances its identity by enabling community members to deeply relate to the meanings and values of their heritage, so that heritage becomes a means of spiritual renewal and to maintain a renewed and flexible identity, adaptable to the challenges of the times.
Carl Jung spoke of heritage as part of the “collective unconscious,” a component of symbols and myths passed down through generations, forming an essential aspect of the identity of individuals and communities. Folk traditions and symbols are a bundle of meanings and ideas that are rooted in the collective consciousness and give individuals a sense of belonging.
